Areas of Application

The Polykat fiberglass rod is the most important component in all Katimex cable pulling systems. It is used successfully in many areas of cable laying for both short and medium distances. Polykat cleverly combines the shear strength of a rigid pole with the flexibility required in everyday practice. Polykat pulling rods can therefore be inserted more quickly than ever before, even in complex and occupied conduits. Cable pulling is simple, quick and precise. The difficulties associated with inserting traditional steel and plastic rods are now once and for all a thing of the past. Anyone who has worked with Katimex products will never want to work without them again.

Essential for domestic installation.

Laying power and aerial cables as well as telephone lines in conduits provides the installation engineer with a new challenge every day. With the compact Kati-Blitz, cables can be inserted quickly and simply, even in pipe systems with lots of bends.

Most traditional pulling aids fail when laying cables and lines in offices, department stores and industrial buildings. The Cable-Max was specially developed for these conditions. It remains stable even in heavily occupied under floor channels.

Professional underground cable laying

The Pipe Eel has become and indispensable aid for power supply companies, telecommunications firms and cable laying specialists. Light-duty power transmission and telecommunication cables as well as winching cables can be laid in lengths of up to 300m at once.

Cable Grips

Nowadays cable grips are an indispensable aid to pulling cables and wires and have proved themselves in practice over a period of many years. Katimex cable grips are hand-made in our own works. They meet the highest standards in terms of materials and workmanship and set new standards in terms of safety and load capacity. Katimex offers a wide range of cable grips with different designs and eye arrangements: for domestic installation, for underground cabling, and for overhead cabling as well as special stockings and guide heads for laying optical fibre cables. In addition to this, cable support grips are also available in a number of different designs for the fixing of cables.

Special products can of course also be supplied for particular fields of application according to customers' specification.

Cable Grips for Domestic Installation

These cable grips are designed specially for use in domestic installation and are refined to suit exactly the cables and wires used in this area. They are suitable for cable diameters from 4 to 31 mm.

They can be coupled to the Kati-Blitz and Cable-Max pulling devices quickly and easily with the M5 threaded connection.

Cable Grips in Underground Cabling

This series is suitable for cables with a diameter from 10-180 mm. The material used and the design allows tension to be transferred to the cable without it being damaged.

Cable Grips for Optical Fibre Cables

Special cable grips are used for laying optical fibre cables. The highly flexible mesh guarantees the uniform introduction of tension to the cable coating in a way that does not damage it. 

Cable Drum Handling

Wherever cables are laid, the correct lengths of line have to be spooled from the supply roll or the drum in a time and material saving way.

Katimex dispensers are practical special solutions. The spectrum includes ring spoolers for small drums, roller rails for spooling out without using an axle, mechanical drum lifters, and the Hydrokat, with which drums weighing up to 10 t in total can be spooled out. 

Ring Spooler

With the ring spooler cable rings can be spooled out without torsion. It makes no difference whether the cable is taken from the ring from the inside or the outside. The ring spoolers are equipped with a length counter, making possible direct measurement of the amount of cable laid while pulling.

Roller Rails

Katimex also offers aluminium roller rails for spooling out without using an axle.
With their low weight, these are very easy to handle.
The mini roller rails for smaller cable drums are particularly light.


Drums with a total weight up to 10 t and a diameter of 3.20 m can be lifted hydraulically using the Hydrokat.

Cable and Wire Guiding Equipment in Manholes

Cables are laid in conduit networks particularly in urban areas. When the cable is fed from the cable drum into the underground conduit system, it has to pass over the edge of the manhole into the conduit. This inevitably causes damage to the cable coating if appropriate auxiliary devices are not used. Winching tensions are hard to regulate and there is a considerable risk for installation engineers.
Katimex manhole cable guide bows and pulley sets are designed for precisely this application: they feed the cable from the drum into the conduit nearly without friction and without kinks. Cable coating and winching wire are preserved and the required winching power reduced. Besides the special manhole cables guide bows, Katimex also offers a wide range of auxiliary devices for guiding the cable over the edge of the manhole into the conduit. The tried and tested Pipe Eel and Cable-Jet pulling systems also make cable laying in conduits significantly easier.

The cable guiding and run-off frame is constructed to provide central feeding of the cable from the drum to the roller system. It is erected between the manhole and the cable drum. The cable runs automatically to the centre over two angled steel rollers. The robust steel construction can be folded together and is transported easily.

Heavy manhole covers can also be lifted easily with the portable manhole cover-lifting device. After lifting, the manhole cover is moved out of the working area. The manhole cover can be replaced quickly in the same way.
